CANON
History: http://aselia.wikia.com/wiki/Luke_Fon_Fabre
Personality: ‘Obnoxious brat’ is probably the best way to describe Luke, in a few words. He’s self-centered, spoiled, whiny, and generally annoying to be around. Also a member of nobility, which gives him the sense that he’s more important than most anyone he interacts with outside of his family, up to and including other members of nobility.

Much of his spoiled nature results from his upbringing. Luke’s life has been a fairly easy one, where he hasn‘t had to worry about whether he had food or money, and has servants to tend to him. Combine this with what is essentially 7 years of house arrest with no one but his family and servants to interact with, you get a guy with a skewed sense of importance and the impression that he can do what he wants. Also terrible social skills. He’s learned that this isn’t the case outside of his home, but it hasn’t really stopped him from reacting badly when things don’t go his way. If allowed to, he’s likely to yell at whatever is bothering him, or if he’s particularly angry, he’ll throw or kick things. He’s also likely to react this way if he or thinks he’s being ignored or doesn’t understand something.

Which is actually a lot, as Luke is ignorant of many things most people his age consider common knowledge and doesn’t seem to have much of a drive to learn those things. In fact, his view of the world is much like a child’s--after being kept isolated at home for 7 years, everything is new and needs to be examined, questioned, or both.

Boredom comes easily to Luke, as does impatience, and if something fails to hold his interest for more than a few minutes at a time, he’s very likely to stop caring about it. Or at least deem it stupid or a waste of time and then begrudgingly attempt to give a damn. On the other hand, if he does express interest in something, he’ll stubbornly focus on just that thing and try to ignore anything else. This gets him in trouble several times (and also triggered a tantrum on his part) when his desires conflict with those of everyone else and he has to be dragged in the right direction. He’s also lazy, expecting others to keep him entertained rather than put out the effort to find something to do.

Luke is extremely averse to killing and bloodshed, especially when people are involved. He’s not a pacificist by any definition; he’s trained to wield a sword and is a decent fighter, but balks at the idea of killing human beings and even non-humans in some cases, especially if they’re not hostile. He has a minor breakdown after killing a person in self-defense and prior to that, feels sick after destroying the eggs in a monster’s nest. Luke also seems not to mind helping out people who seem to need it, though in most of these cases, he'll help but either complain the whole time or otherwise find some way to act like he really doesn't want to do it.

INTO THE HEDGE
Seeming: Possession
Role: A journal
Abilities: As a journal, his purpose is to keep track of pretty much anything that needs to be written down and kept for later--lists, notes, stories, daily events, etc. His physical form has been enchanted to take dictation by itself, but can just as easily be written in manually. He never seems to run out of pages, and there always seems to be plenty of blank pages to write in.

In spirit form, he can remember and recall the details of any event he happens to be witness to, but he can also keep a record of stories he hears secondhand, though these records aren't as accurate. He’s unable to ‘forget’ information--short of ripping out the pages the information is on, which causes immense pain--but has the ability to go back and obscure details if he concentrates, as if scribbling out or erasing things. However, this ability is a mutation of his hyperresonance (ability to destroy and reform matter at an atomic level), which he can’t control, so this is a rarely used ability. If he ever does this, it’ll be fairly obvious, as it gives both his forms a glowing outline.

He has a certain control over the information he contains/knows--only his owner can force him to reveal anything he knows, but it's not impossible to coax information out of him. It's mostly a matter of whether you catch him in the right mood.

His physical form can be written in by anyone, and if someone happens to be doing that, whatever appears the page also appears somewhere on his spirit form's body briefly before disappearing. It's a minor annoyance at worst, as it doesn't cause pain but can attract attention and disrupt his train of thought if he's having a conversation elsewhere. Flipping through the journal's pages causes him to lose focus.

He tends to avoid any source of flames or water in his more mobile form, as his physical form is primarily paper.

Description: Physical form: Basically something like this, only white instead of brown. The insides of the covers are dark red, as are the edges of the paper inside.

Spirit form: Looks very much like his human form, with some noticeably inhuman traits. His skin is nearly white, matching the pages of the book that's his physical form, and has a papery look and feel to it. Pinching or prodding part of his skin will cause wrinkles to form there, like crumpling a sheet of paper, but the skin seems soft otherwise, such as when cut. His ‘blood’ is actually green ink, the same color as his eyes (he blushes green now). If he loses blood, his eyes will gradually lose color.

From a distance, his hair looks and behaves much like normal hair, but looking close reveals it’s made of ribbons rather than strands of hair.

His jacket matches the journal’s cover in appearance, color, and texture, the front button being the closure of the cover.

Reasoning: In the game, Luke keeps a diary that functions as both a safeguard against total amnesia in the future in world terms and as a travel synopsis in game terms (the whole game synopsis consists of Luke’s diary entries).

Also, Luke is kind of a mortal representation of a diety called Lorelei, who represents the fonon of sound (there are seven fonons, corresponding to different elements; fire, water, wind, dark, light, earth and sound is apparently an element), which is associated with the planet’s Score--the planet’s ‘memory’. Technically, he’s a clone of the quasi-diety-in-human-form, but still.

I also thought it might be interesting to play him as something/someone who keeps track of someone/everyone else’s memories rather than his own, whether he wants to or not.

First Memory: Killing a soldier in self-defense.
